Had Me From the Opening Pages

Cover ArtThis is one of those books that had me from the opening pages. Amanda Dykes writes with lyrical, gentle prose that will draw you into this deep story.

Whose Waves These Are is an intriguing story set in a small fishing community called Ansel-by-the-Sea (yes, the rest of the story is equally as poetic). Annie Bliss returns to the town--once a refuge in her youth--to help her GrandBob (now that he is the one who needs help) and we learn more about their pasts as the story unfolds.

The story is woven together beautifully and effortlessly and I loved the journey from past to present. Dykes has created beautiful characters whose stories are carefully unwrapped, like a gift, as you turn the pages. I didn't realize this was Amanda Dykes' first novel; I can't wait to read what she has in store for us next!
