A Field Guide to Loving Your Neighbour

Cover ArtI wasn't sure what I was getting into when I picked up How to Love Your Neighbor Without Being Weird. Sure, I was drawn to the funny, honest title. And, sure, I want to love my neighbor, as the Bible says. But...isn't that a little bit scary?

Amy Lively's honest answer? Yes. But sometimes you need to do scary things.

I so appreciated the "tone" of this book. Straight-from-the-heart, over-a-cup-of-tea-style conversation, with a little edgy honesty that gets you squirmy. Lively eases you into it, though--the book begins with an open introduction to her shortcomings and struggles, and what she has actually done in her real life to actively love her neighbors. Each chapter ends with "Next Best Steps" and the book itself houses three appendices with additional resources.

It's not an easy read--not if you want to get the most out of it and adjust your lifestyle--but it is a challenging, inspiring read. And remember--it can start with a simple cup of tea.
