Messiah: Origin - Booksneeze Review

Simply put, this book is gorgeous - in both written and visual content. It covers the first few chapters of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, just up to before the start of Jesus' ministry. At the very end, the book includes the genealogies and an index of scripture, which I thought was a nice touch. Since this is titled "Messiah: Origin," I assume it is the start of a series of Jesus' life, but they did a great job of making this story a standalone for anyone who doesn't know the whole story, and managing to end it tantalizingly, so you want to read more of the story of Jesus.

Since this story is one of the greatest stories of all time, it makes a fantastic graphic novel. Yet, it is timeless, as understandable for younger readers as it is for old. I also think this book makes the Bible more readable for fans of graphic novels (or visual learners) and, conversely, allows those who might not normally pick up a graphic novel find that they really enjoy the genre.

The illustrations are breathtaking. I found the art very moving, inspiring, and unique, and the meticulous artwork added a whole other facet to this timeless story.

I loved this book. It is going to be one of my favourites for a long time. I can't wait for the next release in the series. Highly recommended.
