Your Perfect Relaxing Summer Read

Melody Carlson is pretty much my go-to comfort read author these days. And Just for the Summer was a really nice, light read. Kinda perfect for a summer vacation, if you know what I mean!

Meet two (very different) women: first, Ginny Masters; hotel manager in Seattle. High heels, classy, has it together. And Jacqueline (NOT Jackie) Potter; chic and longing for that cosmopolitan life, but stuck at her grandfather's fishing lodge in Idaho.

When these women run into some roadblocks (dead ends?) at their current places of work, a job swap sounds like the perfect solution. And, in some ways, it is...but boy, do they have some learning to do!

I did enjoy the "trope-ish" nature of this book and enjoying the characters' journeys unfold in their lifestyle swaps. I especially rooted for Ginny; while this sounds like a mutual swap, one character does have a lot of growing up to do, and I did find her a little annoying (ha!).

One thing I do want to mention; there isn't a whole lot of Christianity in this book. It's mentioned that Ginny goes to church and she also prays one time. That was a little disappointing because there was character growth that could have been tied into spiritual growth. I was also disheartened by the amount of drinking mentioned (beer, wine, etc.) and a few acronyms that could be interpreted as including a swear word. I just didn't see that as necessary to the story. Although it remains a pretty clean read otherwise, I would have appreciated more Christian content and growth rather than contemporary.

Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
