Give This High-Octane Romantic Suspense a Chance!

I think I have another author to add to my reading list - Elizabeth Goddard. I'm not sure how it's taken me this long to come across her work!

Before now, I haven't really dabbled in the Romantic Suspense genre. Romantic without suspense suits me just fine. But something about Present Danger caught my eye. I took a chance, hoping it would be the perfect balance of intrigue (without the blood and gore) and romance.

I sure am glad I took the chance! Present Danger is about two old flames—Former FBI Agent Jack Tanner and US Forest Special Service Agent Terra Connors—and their work together to solve a murder in a national forest. The tale progresses quickly, unravelling an archeological trafficking mystery—all while Terra and Jack wrestle with what's going on in their hearts.

This story shifted into high gear and I absolutely couldn't put it down. Threads that were laid down throughout the story all started to come together, and I felt excited as the mystery started to be solved. It was an adventure.

Plus, the two main characters, Terra and Jack, were very likeable. I felt my heart aching for them and cheering them on. Goddard did a great job building up all the different characters in this book and laying the foundation for some new main characters in her next one. Needless to say, I can't wait (but it looks like I have to wait until November for Deadly Target).

Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
