Finding Rest: The Devotional
What a timely topic for a devotional. 365 Devotions for Finding Rest will encourage readers to slow down and focus on refreshment, even if only for a moment--something everyone needs to do.
I love how beautiful this book is. Every page is pleasing to the eye, with an attractive font, pretty ferns spotting the corners, and a soft blue color as the background to each page.
The devotions are sorted by date (starting January 1). Every month begins with a short verse. Each devotion is easily consumable; one page each, making it the perfect devotional to start every morning.
Each devotion has a verse, short (about 3 paragraphs) reading, and sentence-long prayer. I wish the devotions and the prayer were a little longer, but this book is meant for a quick start read, and I think the message might be contradicted if it took a long time!
Each devotion ties into the theme of "rest;" sample titles include:
-Rest from Productivity
-Delight in Today
-Rest in Being Uniquely You
-Connect With God
-Bitter Into Sweet
Through every devotion runs a similar vein; something I think many of us need to acknowledge and add to our lives. This is an important message, and I'm so glad a devotion like this exists. The topic of this book merits a spot on your table--the appealing design will guarantee it stays.
I also found out there are other devotionals done in this beautiful style; 365 Devotions for Peace and 365 Devotions for Hope. I'm happy to know that after I'm done this book, I can try one of those.
