Together With You: Addictive and Insightful.

Together With You was a lovely contemporary romance story. Ryan Tremaine, our handsome doctor hero, has the perfect life. He's healthy, wealthy, and independent. That said, he has made a few mistakes. This summer, he's tasked with taking care of his two teenage sons and Penny, his daughter with fetal alcohol effects. When Penny goes missing at the mall, Carly enters the picture. Soon she is enlisted to be Penny's nanny and impacts the Tremaine family in the best way possible.

I could tell that Victoria Bylin had done her research. Penny was believable, lovable, and, most importantly, real. Because of this book, I have an improved understanding of fetal alcohol effects and the struggles some families face on a regular basis. Beyond Penny, Bylin did a good job of making all of her characters very believable. Carly and Ryan had made mistakes that shaped them--and they continued to make mistakes. They had unique stories and lessons that had to be worked through. And some of it was messy.

I'm a sucker for a good romance. But the reason I enjoyed this book, especially, was because the romance was also not tied up in a pretty package. Carly and Ryan faced struggles and challenges that were very true-to-life. Bylin didn't shy away from the uncomfortable. She also ensured that God was an integral part of the journey and the true source of love and satisfaction. That's what made this a good read.
