Becky Wade, You've Done it Again

I have a giant problem with Becky Wade...she doesn't have 1,000 books for me to read. :) Every single time, her books grab me hook, line, and sinker. I am addicted to her chronicles on the Porter family and I wish her books were 10 times as long.

I was introduced to Becky Wade with the first Porter family novel--Undeniably Yours. Since then, I've devoured her books like candy. By the time I read this book, A Love Like Ours, I figured out how to savor it properly--readers should treat these books like a scrumptious cake. There's a little sweetness in the icing and some solid chocolate and, to fully enjoy it, let each bite melt on your tongue. It's a filling kind of book with more depth than you'd think.

While Wade doesn't forget other family members in the Porter family (or other secondary characters--Amber from Undeniably Yours makes a comeback), A Love Like Ours centers on Jake and Lyndie, childhood friends who haven't seen eachother since they were small. When Lyndie lands back in Texas, her and Jake cross paths--Lyndie is hired at the stables to exercise the Thoroughbreds. Where Lyndie is caring and warm-hearted, Jake is closed off and cautious (and suffering from PTSD). The only trait they have in common is their stubbornness.

Wade has a way of making very real characters who need redemption. God is not a secondary character in this book--He's at the forefront of resolving Jake and Lyndie's issues. I liked the real-life struggles, the romance, and the plot involving a promising racehorse. I loved everything about this book--except that it had to end!
