Elevate Your Family Devotional Time

Image result for the very best hand-on kinda dangerousHas your family devotional time been ho-hum? Have your kids been yawning at the table, looking out the windows, and just generally losing focus? Enter The Very Best, Hands-On, Kinda Dangerous Family Devotions. With a title like that, this book had a lot to live up to. But take it from me, this is a seriously cool devotional!

With a devotion for every week of the year, you can make this a weekly (or more) habit--and your family will start to look forward to family devotion time.

What I really love about this is that it goes beyond your typical devotional with a lesson, prayer, and some questions. No, parents, you will have to put a little elbow grease into this book! Each devotional (aka Object Lesson/Activity) starts with a theme, followed by a list of materials you'll need to demo the activity. Then, there is a short lesson and summary for digestion. Some of these lessons, since they are kinda dangerous, have a little call-out on how to make it kid friendly.

If this sounds like a lot of prep time, this book has that covered too. On the first few parents, Shoemaker has outlined guidelines and words of encouragement just for you. And, honestly, this is something that's worth putting a little work into.

This devotional isn't limited to just families, either. Most of the devotionals would make awesome Sunday School or Youth Group lessons and activities as well! This book is a great all-around resource to have on your bookshelf.
