I Should Have Read This Years Ago - 5 Love Languages

The 5 Love Languages has been on my radar for a while (I've even speculated about which is my primary love language), but I hadn't yet taken the time to investigate more thoroughly. Now, I wish I'd done it sooner--this book is a must-read.

It starts out by discussing each love language in more detail, with an example of how it works, what it might look like to someone whose primary language it is, and how to love someone in that way. The book then delves more deeply into applicable areas where these love languages can truly be brought to light (whether in your love life, family relationships, with friends, or colleagues).

One thing I really appreciated about this book was the steady encouragement to apply these teachings to my life. The end of each chapter had a series of questions (such as "Is there someone you can demonstrate this love language to this week?) and the end of the book has an appendix with a test to discover your primary language and an entire section for studying the book (whether in a group study or alone), including an area to take notes.

In itself, I really learned a lot from this book, but it is the extra application questions that is going to encourage change in my life in the long run. I really appreciated that and I am definitely inspired to love others according to their love languages. I'm ready to start reading it again already, this time taking notes.

Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
