Book Review: Blessings for the Evening by Susie Larson

This is a beautiful, well-thought-out book. Each page has a separate "blessing" of sorts. There is a passage from the Bible on one side and a blessing (or prayer) on the opposite page, meant to pair with the verse.

The hardcover was a nice touch and the images selected with the passages act in perfect rhythm with the message. Susie's words are very meaningful and thought-provoking, and often I found that she had words for exactly what I was trying to pray or needed to ask God. She has a gift - it almost feels like someone is praying for you when you read the words.

This book would make a fantastic gift for anyone - even someone who isn't a big reader. I think it can help those who need a bit of help to talk to God before bed, for those who have trouble falling asleep and need some peace, and even just as a coffee table book to read throughout the day.

I had just one complaint about this book. Some of the pages stuck together in the centre when I would flip a page, and it would peel off a small part of the image - it was just disappointing, but is just something I found with my copy.

Beautiful and easy-to-read, this book will surely provide peace in dark (or light) hours.
