A Year of Focusing on Joy

Joy is so easy to forget. In today's changing world with pressure and deadlines, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that joy is one of the fruits of the spirit and that it's okay to be joyful.

Because of this, I was immediately drawn to this book. Bright colors invoke a joyful feeling; a happy bike and cheerful font sets off the stripy yellow cover. The inside of the book continues with this theme with yellow-tinted pages and pretty flowers in each corner. It's a seriously happy book.

And then there's the inside. The content of the book is also wonderful. With topics like "Praying with Joy," "The Miracle of Joy," and "Eyes on Jesus," there is something encouraging every day.

This is a 365-day devotional, so as you can expect, you get a reading for every day of the year (they do start on January 1). These readings are fairly short as they are meant to kick-start or supplement your day. Each devotional meditates on joy and includes an applicable Bible verse, devotional reading, and short prayer. The back also includes a Scripture Index so you can also search topically for a reading in tune with your favorite verse.

While compact, this devotional is thicker than other editions. The book comes with a durable hard cover and ribbon for marking your page. This would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for any woman in your life; I think the modern style of the book makes it well suited for a young adult, too.

I had read other books in the series (365 Devotions for Finding Rest) and really enjoyed a yearly daily devotional with a compelling theme. I hope they continue to do more books in this series!

Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
