The Loving Kitchen - One Tasty Book Review

Well, this is one to keep on the kitchen cookbook shelf. From the minute I saw the cover of this The Loving Kitchen (rightfully subtitled "Downright Delicious Southern Recipes to Share with Family, Friends, and Neighbours"), I was taken. It only took a page flip or two to be totally smitten.

The book sections off recipes into "Morning Fare," "Bountiful Breads," "Starters and Salads," "Soups
and Sandwiches," "Entrees," Vegetables and Sides," and "Desserts." A final section includes ideas for "Reaching Out and Gathering In," which I found really inspiring--how to create fellowship and community and share Jesus' love with others around the table. Another necessity in every cookbook is the index, which is also included.

There are a couple of reasons in particular that I love this cookbook.

A. The recipes. Can you go wrong with perfectly tried-and-true, southern comfort food? Standouts for me included Cottage Herb Bread, Lasagna Pinwheels, Roasted Veggie Flatbread Pizza, and Elvis Cupcakes.

B. The "feel" of the book. It's going to get bendy pages and worn out and spilled on, but that will only add to the beauty already evident. I loved the photographs of the recipes and the layout of each recipe (there is a blurb from LeAnn Rice, ingredients listed clearly, instructions, and, on some pages, an applicable quote or Bible verse).

Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
