Easily digestible but meaningful - "Frames" books

This pocket-sized book is packed with infographics, real-life stories, and great information on "Becoming Home."When I say this book is small, I mean it. But its small stature does not reflect its thoughtful content.

"Becoming Home" investigates the world of adoption and foster care, beginning with the statistical data and delving into more personal stories and action items.

The book begins with a series of infographics--beautiful diagrams that sum up interesting points in a very visually appealing way. As a visual learner, the illustrations were very effective for me. Besides being on-point from a design perspective, they illuminated the facts in an easy-to-digest way.

After this, the book takes more of an essay-style approach--what we can do with these facts. The layout is still very effective and includes visual stimulation, but the heart of the book is where I was truly touched. A few stories about adoption and fostering are included here, and, in my opinion, some of these stories are the most poignant part of the book.

In all, this book (and the entire Frames series) is a good one to have on your bookshelf, especially if you are intrigued by adoption and fostering. It's a quick read, but very thought-provoking.
